History

The dream of owning a farm brought Swiss-born Andreas März to Tuscany in the 1970s. In 1979, together with his wife Eva, the young agronomist acquired the historic Balduccio olive estate in the village of Lamporecchio.
From the neighboring farmers, with whom he built lasting friendships, Andreas learned the traditional art of caring for olive trees. At the time, there were no machines available to cultivate the estate’s 1,200 olive trees, making the work long and demanding.
Annual production amounted to just 500–1,000 liters of olive oil—far from enough to support a family. Various additional jobs were necessary, especially as the family grew and three children soon filled the olive groves with their laughter and energy.
